Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists are trained to the highest standard over a long period of time where respect for their patient is given paramount importance. It is essential for every therapist to maintain an attitude of truthfulness, a concern for the privacy of the patient, and appropriate professional boundaries.
As QPPA members, we share a recognition of the unconscious, transference and countertransference, and the interpretive role of the therapist as central to our work. Most importantly, we share an ethic about respecting our patients and colleagues as human beings with the right to be understood and treated with dignity and respect.
All practising QPPA members are governed by an ethical code and professional standards and must be registered with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g. AHPRA) or other relevant professional organisations.
